I find it hard to believe that it was a mere two years ago today since you were born and Mommy and I brought you home. Since your birth much has change in all our lives and you've taken each change in stride with hardly a blink. This past year is full on wonderful memories like my father's day present. You woke up that morning and wanted to make your first poopoo on the toilet, but my fondest memory of this past year was the time I took you camping to Manitoulin Island for the August long weekend. Not only was this your first experience sleeping in a tent, but it was also your first time away from Mommy for more then a few hours and your final weaning. I didn't hear one complaint and the look on your face once the tent was erected as you said these immortal words "Daddy tent" is unforgettable and almost made me cry. The nights of that weekend were also full of wonderment as you stared at the full moon as it rose over the island and when you discovered the flashlight and promptly pointed it at the top of tent and said "Flower". Your ability to correlate the abstract combination of shadows and light at the top of tent to a concrete image simply shocked me. And yes, it did look like a flower. Today you'll face a new challenge as you say good-bye to your crib and say hello to your "big girl" bed. I'm sure you'll take it in stride with a smile on your face and a song on your lips. It's
been 2 years since you rocked my world and the motherhood experience is still
radicalizing as I try to keep you stimulated and encouraged all day.
Two weeks ago you turned 2, you had a birthday party and moved from crib to
bed. A few days later you got a step stool and then today for the first time
in your life you got yourself out of bed. You stood at mommy and daddy's door
with your teddy bear and sweetly said
"poo poo pee pee". Also in the past fortnight you started a new arts and crafts class with me and nursery school one morning a week WITHOUT me. You were a shining star there singing and dancing all talentshowey. Our weekly trips to to the library, our daily reading to you has really paid off with your vivid imagination. You put the plastic pumpkin on your head and said "bakerman", when you looked up at the dust in the sunbeam you declared "bubbles", when the back of the toilet seat fell on you you said "backpack" and when the furniture men came with the big box you asked if they were delivering your baby brother. So, I tell you today like every other day that I love you but not too many times so that it doesn't mean anything and I wish you PEACE, LOVE, JOY, and CREATIVITY in the year to come.
