November 97

Nudging along in November.Shazbut! Cold weather arrives and it's like the whole city's gone into a coma. Roosting. Gotta get up and gOgO! No pen can depict my experiences yet I take one up to air my vocabulary (without a smidgen of literary merit) writing about parties can only be reductive in the most trivializing way. Went to Orlando for IAAPA tradeshow. (International Association of Amusements Parks and Attractions). Got lots of those personal photo stickers with crazy backgrounds and also puzzles, winky blinks, tattoo's and rubber stamps of myself. It wasn't exactly a blow-out revelry, mostly run-of-the-mill thrill seekers. Sega, Atari, and Graystone had hospitality suites. IMAX and Eastman Kodak had an evening of Artistic Memories - not! I expect a 3D picture-perfect affair from IMAX. Went to the Water Park, Carnival Amusement Industry, and Universal Studios receptions. For fun I hung out at the Go Lounge and rhapsodized in a night of dancing and partaking at The Club At Firestone. Orlando has amazing techno d.j.'s; on Sunday nights they take the helm at House of Blues in Downtown Disney. Clubs and hangouts must be checked out on flyers for the right nights or else you're stuck with ultra cheesy poser avant-garde wannabes. argggghhh! Underground Record Source is the stop for all your underground music stuff. Vinyl Frontier, Deuce, and The Drop Shop are decent record stores too.

Some of the parties I went to or may attend: Blue @ Denile on Thursday nights - ultra- zlooovy, and super -zowww only wish the dancefloor was more cushiony. Bitcasters and AOL Canada launched EVENTCASTERS @ Bar Code, Capic Toronto Chapter Show @ Bravo!. Emmanuel Lopez's latest artwork "Rain of Angels" was there; finally bona-fide artists are making "computer-art". eyeon Software/Blur Studios reception @ Joker, Catalyst Effusion Festival @ Symptom Hall, missed the Grand Opening of The Living Room but went to their "Corporate Network Schmooze Party", LIFTOFF @ The Guvernment, love that Codex, Many Dimensions of Marshall McLuhan series @ the McLuhan Program at U of T, Closing Party for the Toronto Reel Asian International FilmFest, Electronic music Pioneers, The Silver Apples @ Opera House, NeoNudism a live CUSeeMe two-way erotic video link-up @ Interaccess, Maurice VelleKoop's art opening @ Reactor should be infra-dig he's been my fave Toronto artist for over a decade and he's launching his homoerotic alphabet book, Plus Zero a new feminist cultural art publication was launched @ Orbit Room. Some X-mas parties are, Artist's Group @ Bauhaus, Power Pictures @ Mockingbird, C-Pac on Noble , and Digital Renaissance @ a bowling alley.

Birthday parties: Mark Jones' "Final-Year-of-Being-a Twentysomething" Party, Jeff Mann's Ethiopian dinner, and The Second Annual Naked Sagittarius Party for Graham Smith Mr. Telbotics. After spending the day at the Whole Life Expo, I'll divulge some of my eating habits. Imagine Café is a vegetarian hideaway on Spadina where I eat wheatberry salad, long-grain brown and Wehani rice, as often as possible go during the day. Universal Grill is a fun restaurant which will make your tastebuds dance go for brunch or dinner. If you crave a cancer stick, chew on a celery or carrot stick, coffee addicts beware caffeine = osmosis shutdown, cream = colonic impaction and sugar = poison. Stick to flax or hemp seed oil and you'll be the picture of health. I get all of my massages by Alex @ the Canadian Natural Health and Healing Center. As for shoes in Toronto I have only one thing to say, GET OUTSIDE!!!!!!

I'm going to Margarita Island in Venezuela for X-mas to learn how to wind surf. This will probably be my last column. At age 35 I've sorta entertained myself into a stupor having more adventures than there are nibs for pens. Events have simply picked me up and carried me along so now I'm ready to dissolve into the depths of obscurity and hopefully become a total computer geek. That's it lock stock and barrel.- hang loose mother goose - peace and goodwill to all readers. And the beat goes on and on and on and on and ………………………
